Ingredients: WE WON'T USE

Corn
We have elected to not use corn in Nature's Kitchen® and Genesis Raw®. Corn presents some challenges for dogs, in particular the gluten that is a resultant of digestion. We believe that corn manufactured in the US is impacted by Genetic Modification and increases the likelihood of an allergy presentation due to its presence. |

Wheat
A common filler in pet foods. Because it's cheap. However, there is substantial evidence that wheat, like corn, contains many similar allergens which can cause itching, poor digestion, diarrhea, poor absorption, and substantial foul smelling stools. Like corn, wheat is also genetically modified when grown in the US. |

Soy
The plant estrogens in soy are well-documented endocrine system disruptors. In addition to phytoestrogens, soy also contains phytates that prevent mineral absorption, substances that block the enzymes needed to digest protein, and other anti-nutrients. We see this as problematic. |

Broccoli
While considered a powerfood in nutrients for humans, it can be in dogs. Although, evidence suggests that broccoli can increase the likelihood of the formation of kidney stones and should be avoided altogether in older dogs where declining renal function is common. It has benefits, but not for our products. |

Foreign Minerals or Vitamins
We have chosen to use domestic providers of our vitamins and minerals. It is important to us to use only American sourced products. We feel that the loose regulations on some East Asian and African imported products can adversely affect your pet. That is a risk that we are not willing to take with your pet's health. |

Meat Remnants or Meat Meals
Maverick Pet Foods prides itself on the quality of ingredients used. Often, rendered meats or meat meals are used to boost protein levels in dog foods. Unfortunately, due to high temperatures involved in processing these real meat substitutes, the proteins are digested, but are often the leading cause of allergies in pets. |
